Illinois House of Representatives congratulates Lake Bracken Country Club on its 100th anniversary on October 23, 2022.

Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad purchased 1,002 acres south of Galesburg in 1920 for $368,000 to build Lake Bracken for water supply to its Galesburg rail yards.

Knox County Country Club was incorporated on October 23, 1922, and leased the property from the railroad starting December 28, 1923; the name changed to Lake Bracken Country Club in 1947.

Bracken Holdings, Inc. purchased the property from the railroad in 1974 following the railroad's declining revenue and increased lease fees in 1965.

Lake Bracken Country Club has expanded to include golf, tennis, swimming, fishing, boating, ATV trails, hiking, and other recreational facilities.
