Illinois House of Representatives congratulates the Village of Roselle on its 100th anniversary on October 7, 2022.

Village of Roselle incorporated on October 7, 1922, with Herman Thiemann as first president and a six-member board including Reuben Baker, Herman Bartles, Henry Haberkamp, William Thurnau, Al Roloff, and Ed Zarndt.

Roselle separated from Bloomingdale Township in 1922 after residents sought independent water and sewer services that Bloomingdale residents opposed due to higher taxes.

The village was named after Rosell Hough, who returned to the farming area in 1868 and opened the Illinois Linen Company; the town's name allegedly resulted from a train schedule misprinting "Rosell" as "Roselle."

A suitable copy of the resolution shall be presented to the Village of Roselle as a symbol of the House's respect and esteem.
