Congratulates the City of Du Quoin on the 100th anniversary of hosting the DuQuoin State Fair, which began in spring 1923 when local business leaders led by William R. Hayes developed the event to attract visitors from Southern Illinois.

Acknowledges the fair's rapid growth, with crowds estimated at 50,000 to 60,000 visitors in its early years and approximately 300,000 visitors annually in recent years.

Recognizes the fair's historical significance as the "Home of the Hambletonian" (harness racing's premier event) from the late 1950s through 1980, and its subsequent popularity for auto racing and entertainment.

Notes that the fair has featured hundreds of prominent entertainers including Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Liza Minnelli, and Tammy Wynette throughout its history.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Du Quoin Mayor Guy H. Alongi as an expression of esteem and respect.
