Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded January 9, 1914 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a mission to be "a part of" rather than "apart from" the general community.

The fraternity is an international organization with over 200,000 members and more than 500 chapters across the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia, promoting brotherhood, scholarship, and service.

The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter was founded in Lake County on February 19, 2005 and provides academic assistance and leadership development to underserved and underrepresented youth ages 8-18.

The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter will celebrate its 17-year anniversary by hosting its Ninth Annual Blue and White Scholarship Gala in Mundelein on September 24, 2022 with the theme "One Community, Every Child, and One Sigma."

The House of Representatives congratulates the Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter on its 17-year anniversary and commends its contributions to Lake County.
