Congratulates Dr. Christine J. Sobek on her retirement as president of Waubonsee Community College after 21 years of service beginning July 1, 2001

Notes that under her leadership, the college served 189,429 students earning 2,829,005 credit hours, completed infrastructure growth five years ahead of schedule and under budget, and opened five new buildings on Sugar Grove Campus plus Aurora Downtown and Plano campuses

Recognizes her commitment to student equity and success, including securing three Title V grants totaling nearly $9 million since 2010, increasing student scholarship funding by over 300 percent, and creating $2.4 million in pandemic relief scholarships

Highlights her achievements including obtaining Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation and her community involvement on multiple boards including Rush-Copley Medical Center, Marmion Academy, and Invest Aurora

Commends her numerous honors including Chicago's Notable Women in Education, Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction, and recognition as president emeritus by the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees
