Congratulates the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department on its 100th anniversary, marking a century of service to suburban Cook County and Chicago residents.

The department was originally established as the Cook County Sheriff's Highway Police Department in 1922 with 32 sworn officers.

Now the third largest police department in Illinois with more than 500 sworn officers, responsible for policing 109,000 residents in unincorporated Cook County areas.

Operates specialized units including Investigations, Narcotics, Gun Team, Bomb Unit, Emergency 911 Dispatch, and Special Victims Unit, providing mutual aid to federal, state, and local agencies.

First and only Illinois police department with membership in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) for search and rescue operations on land and water.
