Memorial resolution honoring Elmhurst Police Chief Michael R. Ruth, who passed away on May 30, 2022, after serving 44 years in law enforcement across multiple Chicago suburbs

Ruth served as Elmhurst Police Chief for 10 years, during which he led the department to achieve Tier 1 State Accreditation from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program Council (ILEAP)

Implemented community policing initiatives including the Neighborhood Roll Call program, Prescription Drug Take Back program, NARCAN and Epi-Pen deployment, and a Citizens Police Academy

Graduate of the 207th Session of the FBI National Academy, taught criminal justice at University of Illinois-Chicago and Governors State University, and served as president of the West Suburban Chiefs of Police Association

Resolution extends condolences to his surviving family including wife Susan L. Ruth and daughter Susan C. Ruth, and directs a copy be presented to the family
