Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Esther Wong of Chicago, who passed away on October 9, 2022.

Esther Wong was born in Hong Kong, earned a master's degree from the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration, and made Illinois her home.

Co-founded and served as executive director of the Chinese American Service League (CASL) for 15 years from 2002 to 2017, the largest Asian American social service agency in the Midwest providing senior care, housing, vocational training, and youth programs.

Served on boards of multiple national and local organizations representing immigrant and Asian American communities, including NAPCA, CISANI, AACC, and others.

House extends sincere condolences to her surviving family: husband David Wong, sons Ernest and Jovial Wong, and grandchildren Vienne and Ronin Wong.
