Gary J. LaPaille of Potomac, Maryland, passed away on December 1, 2022; he was born and raised in Chicago.

Served as chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party from 1990 to 1998, elected president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs, and served as vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Served in the Illinois Senate from 1993 to 1995 and worked as chief of staff to former Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan for 12 years.

Founded Capitol Management Group in 1995, which was acquired by MWH Global in 1999; later served as senior vice president for government affairs until 2016 and as senior advisor at Dentons law firm.

Illinois House of Representatives extends condolences to his surviving family including his mother Dolores, wife Christine, children Joseph, Samuel, and Grace, and daughters-in-law Allison and Irina.
