Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Mildred Bowden, who passed away on December 12, 2022, at age 101.

Bowden was born in Apex, North Carolina on April 8, 1921, and moved to Chicago's South Side at 18 months old where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Worked at the Rhumboggie Cafe on 55th Street (owned by boxer Joe Louis) and served as an intake supervisor at Cook County Hospital for 30 years.

Was a faithful member and fundraiser for Christ Universal Temple and prepared Christmas dinner for her family for 50 years; her life spanned 19 U.S. presidents, 18 governors, and 16 mayors.

House extends sincere condolences to Bowden's family, friends, and loved ones, with a suitable copy of the resolution to be presented to her family.
