Honors Shirley J. Newsome of Chicago, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at age 77.

Recognizes her 45+ year career in federal government service, including 33 years with the Federal Circuit Court system and 11 years with the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Acknowledges her extensive community leadership in North Kenwood-Oakland, including founding the Lake Park-Berkeley-Ellis-Drexel Block Club Association in 1981 and serving as chairman of the North Kenwood-Oakland Community Conservation Council from 1991.

Notes her service as interim alderman for the Fourth Ward (appointed January 2011, served until May 2011) and leadership roles with the South East Chicago Commission, Quad Communities Development Corporation, and University of Chicago Charter School.

Extends sincere condolences to her family and directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to the Newsome family.
