Secretary of State shall issue distinctive registration plates for non-highway vehicles (all-terrain vehicles, golf carts, off-highway motorcycles, and recreational off-highway vehicles) that meet specified safety equipment requirements.

Non-highway vehicle owners must pay an annual registration fee of $76, distributed as $1 to State Police Service Fund, $30 to Road Fund, and $45 to county road fund where owner resides.

Registered non-highway vehicles may operate on streets and roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less, or on county highways with speed limits of 55 mph or less, and may cross certain higher-speed roads at intersections.

Non-highway vehicles must have insurance coverage, valid driver's license operator, brakes, steering apparatus, tires, rearview mirror, red warning devices, slow-moving emblem, headlights, tail lamps, brake lights, and turn signals.

Vehicles used for farming operations on county or township roads are exempt from some equipment and insurance requirements but must have headlights and tail lamps when operating between sunset and sunrise.
