IL SB0225

Prohibits the Secretary of State from providing facial recognition search services or photographs to federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies for enforcing federal immigration laws.

Exception allows facial recognition services and photographs to be shared with law enforcement for criminal investigations unrelated to immigration law violations.

Applies the same facial recognition restrictions to both driver's license/permit photographs and identification card photographs held by the Secretary of State.

Maintains existing confidentiality protections for photographs, signatures, and personal identifying information collected during issuance of driver's licenses, permits, and identification cards.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
