Amends Section 5-1 of the Illinois Public Aid Code concerning the declaration of purpose for the Medical Assistance Article.

Makes a technical change by removing duplicate language ("the" appears twice in the original text).

Maintains the stated purpose of providing essential medical care and rehabilitative services for persons receiving basic maintenance grants and medically indigent individuals.

Preserves the policy objectives of maintaining health, alleviating sickness, and helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency or greater self-care capacity.
