SB0549 Summary

• Prohibits current members of the General Assembly from negotiating employment with lobbying entities that actively lobby the General Assembly during their term of office.

• Establishes a one-year "revolving door" restriction preventing former General Assembly members who accept compensation for lobbying from engaging in lobbying activities with the General Assembly for one year after leaving office or the end of their elected term, whichever is longer.

• Extends existing revolving door prohibitions on former state officers and employees accepting employment from entities with whom they had significant contractual or regulatory involvement during the previous year.

• Applies restrictions to spouses and immediate family members living with affected individuals regarding ownership interests in gaming and cannabis businesses for two years after leaving office.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
