IL SB0550

Expands the definition of "lobbying" to include any communication with state executive or legislative branch officials, or local government officials, intended to influence official action.

Prohibits members of the General Assembly, their spouses, and immediate family members living with them from engaging in lobbying while accepting compensation for that lobbying activity.

Allows members of the General Assembly and their families to engage in uncompensated lobbying or lobbying as part of official legislative duties.

Upgrades the penalty for violating these lobbying restrictions from a misdemeanor to a Class 3 felony.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
