• Amends the Criminal Code to add Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) employees to the list of protected persons under aggravated battery statutes.

• Creates Class 1 felony offense for causing great bodily harm or permanent disability/disfigurement to a DCFS employee performing official duties, prevented from performing duties, or battered in retaliation for official duties.

• Creates Class 2 felony offense for battering a DCFS employee (without causing great bodily harm) under the same three circumstances listed above.

• Applies same protections and penalty enhancements already in place for peace officers, firefighters, correctional employees, and other public servants to DCFS employees.
