Requires health care professionals licensed by the Department of Professional Regulation to complete at least one hour of continuing education on Alzheimer's disease and other dementias per renewal period, effective for renewals on or after January 1, 2023.

Applies to licensed physicians, nurses, clinical psychologists, optometrists, physical therapists, physician assistants, clinical social workers, nursing home administrators, occupational therapists, podiatrists, respiratory care practitioners, professional counselors, and speech-language pathologists/audiologists.

Requirement applies only to professionals who provide health care services to and have direct patient interactions with adults age 26 or older in their professional practice.

Required training must include assessment and diagnosis, effective communication strategies, and management and care planning for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

The one-hour course counts toward meeting minimum continuing education credit hour requirements, and training completed for other state licensure, accreditation, certification, or institutional practice requirements can satisfy this obligation.
