Allows patients 18 and older to designate any person or persons as visitors, unless visitation would endanger health/safety or interfere with facility operations.

During declared disasters or communicable disease outbreaks, health care facilities must ensure at least one visitor can visit patients and must allow clergy visits in addition to visitor limits without counting toward visitor caps.

Permits health care facilities to require visitor health screenings, infection control procedures including personal protective equipment, and can deny access to visitors who fail screenings or pose health risks.

Skilled nursing homes, extended care facilities, and intermediate care facilities must inform residents of visitation rights and policies, prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability, and ensure equal visitation privileges.

Nursing homes can prohibit specific visitors if facts demonstrate they would endanger physical health or safety, with written denial provided to both the visitor and resident.
