IL SB1529

Amends the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act to prohibit the Legislative Ethics Commission from requiring the Legislative Inspector General to seek advance approval before commencing any investigation.

Voids any existing rules as of the effective date that require the Legislative Inspector General to seek the Commission's advance approval before beginning an investigation.

Maintains the Commission's authority to promulgate other rules governing its duties, the Inspector General's investigations, and ethics compliance.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
