IL SB1544

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow licensed automotive parts recyclers to submit Junk Vehicle Notifications to the Secretary of State, a process previously limited to scrap processors only

Requires scrap processors or automotive parts recyclers who acquire ownership documents (Certificate of Title, Salvage Certificate, Certificate of Purchase, or equivalent out-of-state documents) to submit them to the Secretary of State within 15 days along with a Junk Vehicle Notification

Exempts scrap processors and automotive parts recyclers who submit Junk Vehicle Notifications from the requirement to apply for or obtain a junking certificate

Prohibits the Secretary of State from issuing a new Certificate of Title or Salvage Certificate for any vehicle listed on a Junk Vehicle Notification
