IL SB1591

Requires University of Illinois Hospitals, ambulatory surgical treatment centers, hospitals, and pharmacies to offer patients any unused portion of facility-provided medications upon discharge when required for continuing treatment.

Defines "facility-provided medication" as topical antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, dilation, or glaucoma drops or ointments.

Mandates that facility-provided medications offered to patients must be labeled consistent with labeling requirements under Section 33 of the Medical Practice Act of 1987.

Applies to four types of healthcare facilities: University of Illinois Hospital, ambulatory surgical treatment centers, licensed hospitals, and pharmacies.
