SB1646 Summary

• Extends the application deadline for private school teachers to establish optional credit for up to 2 years of service from August 1, 2012 to June 30, 2023.

• Teachers at private schools recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education may purchase this credit if they were certified at the time of service, complete at least 10 years of contributing service, and pay required contributions.

• Adds new subsection (g-5) to exclude salary increases from summer school teaching on or after May 1, 2021 and before September 15, 2022 when calculating employer contributions under Section 16-158.

• Removes outdated effective date references from subsection (f-1) of Section 16-158.
