IL SB1685

Amends the School Safety Drill Act to allow parents to exempt their children from participation in law enforcement drills addressing school shooting incidents.

Requires schools to conduct at least one law enforcement drill within 90 days of the school year start to address active threats or active shooters, with drills conducted when students are present.

Specifies that administrators, school support personnel, or students' parents may exempt students from the law enforcement drill at their discretion.

Maintains existing requirements for school evacuation drills (minimum 3 annually for fire incidents), bus evacuation drills (minimum 1 annually), and severe weather/shelter-in-place drills (minimum 1 annually).

Requires local law enforcement agencies to participate in the drills by mutual agreement with school administrators, and to certify completion and report any deficiencies identified during the drill.
