Creates the Rural Education Advisory Council as a statewide body to address needs, challenges, and opportunities of rural school districts and provide policy recommendations to the State

Council membership includes the State Superintendent of Education, Executive Directors from education associations, five rural school district superintendents representing three super-regions, one rural principal, and one student at least 16 years old from a rural district

Functions include conveying rural community perspectives during policy discussions, providing feedback on pre-kindergarten through grade 20 practices, and monitoring the impact of Public Act 100-465 on school funding

Members serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for reasonable expenses from State Board of Education funds

State Board of Education must provide administrative support including agenda creation, research assistance, meeting coordination, and ensuring Open Meetings Act compliance
