IL SB1839

Amends the Illinois Modular Dwelling and Mobile Structure Safety Act to clarify that structural requirements for modular dwellings shall not be more stringent than the most recent International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings or International Building Code, as applicable.

Removes reference to the specific founding organizations of the International Code Council (ICC) from 1994 and adds the Illinois Energy Conservation Code to the list of recognized codes and standards that may be incorporated into departmental codes.

Defines "Person" to include individuals, associations, partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, counties, municipalities, the State of Illinois, and other entities for purposes of the Act.

Clarifies that the Department of Public Health regulates the construction of modular dwelling units located in Illinois and maintains authority over safety codes and standards.

Establishes that safety codes shall allow use of new technology, techniques, methods, and materials consistent with standards developed by the International Code Council, National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, and American National Standards Institute.
