IL SB1861

Renames the "impact incarceration program" to the "impact program" throughout the statute while modifying program components and requirements.

Changes program duration from 120-180 days to one year to eighteen months, with a maximum extension limit of 18 months total.

Replaces mandatory physical training, military drills, and regimented activities with community service, cognitive behavioral programming, life skills, and reentry planning.

Removes the word "strenuous" from physical activity requirements and allows the Department to extend participation periods or remove participants for rule violations, subject to hearing procedures.

Authorizes the Department of Corrections to identify and advocate for additional candidates not previously recommended by courts and formally submit their names to the committing county's State's Attorney.
