IL SB1925

Requires sheriffs in counties with under 3,000,000 inhabitants to obtain a certificate of completion from the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Officers Training Course prescribed by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board or a substantially similar training program from another state or the federal government.

Exempts counties with over 3,000,000 inhabitants from the training certificate requirement for sheriffs.

Exempts sheriffs currently serving on the effective date of the act from the new training requirement.

Makes conforming changes to the Illinois Police Training Act to clarify that the certification requirement applies to elected county sheriffs in counties with under 3,000,000 inhabitants.
