SB1943 Summary

• Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to expand the definition of "another" or "another person" in identity theft statutes to include deceased individuals and fictitious persons, not just living individuals.

• Extends identity theft protections to any entity including firms, associations, organizations, partnerships, business trusts, companies, corporations, limited liability companies, professional corporations, and other private or public entities.

• Applies the expanded definition to both identity theft and aggravated identity theft statutes under Section 16-30, broadening the scope of prosecutable identity theft offenses.
