SB2104 Summary

• Allows active SERS members who are arson investigators to transfer pension credits and creditable service from downstate firefighter pension funds to SERS upon payment of accumulated credits, employer contributions, and reinstated service interest.

• Permits active SERS members who are Commerce Commission police officers to transfer pension credits and creditable service from IMRF service as sheriff's law enforcement employees, municipal police officers, or forest preserve district officers to SERS.

• Enables State policemen, arson investigators, and Commerce Commission police officers to establish up to 5 years of eligible creditable service for prior service as municipal police officers, county corrections officers, or court services officers by filing written application and making specified contributions.

• Allows State policemen to convert service credit earned under Article 14 to eligible creditable service under the alternative retirement annuity formula without being subject to the 12-year limit on eligible creditable service establishment.

• Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt implementation of this bill from state reimbursement requirements and takes effect immediately upon enactment.
