SB2114 Summary

• Amends the evidence-based funding provisions of the School Code to require Chicago Public Schools to distribute funds received for low-income, English learner, and special education resources to every school in the appropriate amounts specified under the Essential Elements component of the funding formula.

• Ensures that funds allocated for these three categories of students must reach individual schools rather than being consolidated at the district level.

• Applies to funds calculated under subparagraphs (V), (W), and (X) of the Essential Elements in the adequacy target calculation, covering intervention teachers, pupil support staff, extended day programs, and summer school positions.

• Takes effect July 1, 2021.
