Requires group and individual health insurance policies, managed care plans, and HMOs to cover treatment for port-wine stains (nevus flammeus), including those caused by Sturge-Weber syndrome, effective January 1, 2022

Covered treatments include early intervention therapies such as topical, intralesional, or systemic medical therapy, surgery, and FDA-approved laser treatments for children aged 18 and younger

Treatment coverage applies when intended to prevent functional impairments related to vision, oral function, inflammation, bleeding, infection, and other medical complications associated with port-wine stains

Coverage excludes treatments performed solely for cosmetic purposes

Extends the coverage requirement to self-insured counties, municipalities, school districts, state employee health plans, and the Medicaid program by adding Section 356z.43 of the Illinois Insurance Code to their required health benefits
