SB2280 Summary

• Allows Small Electing Providers (incumbent local exchange carriers with fewer than 40,000 subscriber access lines as of January 1, 2020) to cease offering telecommunications services using the same procedures as Large Electing Providers under Section 13-406.1.

• Extends the repeal date of the Telecommunications Article from December 31, 2021 to December 31, 2026.

• Extends the repeal date of the Cable and Video Competition Article from December 31, 2021 to December 31, 2026.

• Changes the expiration date for cable service and video service authorizations issued by the Illinois Commerce Commission from December 31, 2024 to December 31, 2029.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
