IL SB2299

Authorizes multifunction school-activity buses (MFSAB) to transport students in grades 7-12 for curriculum-related and college/career readiness activities, including trips to colleges, universities, student job sites developed through school partnerships, and college or career fairs.

Expands the definition of eligible "college and career readiness" activities to include any experience the school determines will contribute to a student's college or career readiness.

Creates a temporary provision allowing students in grades K-12 to be transported via MFSAB for any regular home-to-school or school-to-home transportation from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, then repeals this provision on January 1, 2023.

Requires MFSAB drivers to hold a valid school bus driver permit and subjects MFSAB use to specified Illinois Vehicle Code requirements regarding insurance, equipment, and maintenance.

Lowers the eligible grade level for MFSAB use from grades 9-12 to grades 7-12 for curriculum-related and college/career readiness activities.
