IL SB2396

Reduces sales tax rate from 6.25% to 1.25% on clothing and school supplies during two three-day periods: August 6-8, 2021 and August 13-15, 2021.

Amends the Use Tax Act (35 ILCS 105/3-10) and Retailers' Occupation Tax Act (35 ILCS 120/2-10) to implement the reduced tax rate on sales tax holiday items during the specified dates.

Modifies the State Finance Act sections 6z-18 and 6z-20 regarding Local Government Tax Fund and County and Mass Transit District Fund distributions to account for the reduced 1.25% rate during the holiday periods.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
