IL SB2534

Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act to require members of the General Assembly and candidates for nomination or election to the General Assembly to disclose additional economic interests beyond current requirements.

Requires disclosure of spouse's economic interests if constructively controlled by the filer or if they would otherwise be required to be disclosed under the new section.

Adds eight new disclosure categories for General Assembly members and candidates including: professional organization interests, professional services rendered, capital assets, entities doing business in Illinois, employment positions, entities doing business with government, governmental action requests, and clients doing business with state or local government.

Modifies the statement of economic interests form with new numbered sections (9-16) specifically for General Assembly members and candidates to accommodate the expanded disclosure requirements.

Maintains existing verification language requiring filers to declare the statement is true and complete, with penalties of up to $1,000 fine or one year imprisonment for willfully filing false or incomplete statements.
