SB2661 Summary - Cook County Board of Review Redistricting Act of 2021

• Divides Cook County into 3 Board of Review Districts with substantially equal population based on 2015-2019 American Community Survey data due to delayed 2020 Census data release.

• Establishes detailed geographic boundaries for each district using townships, voting precincts, and specific census blocks to elect Board of Review Commissioners.

• Allows General Assembly to use alternative population data (including American Community Survey) for redistricting in years when federal census data is unavailable by March 31.

• Repeals previous Cook County Board of Review Districts Acts (from 1996 and 2001) and replaces them with this new redistricting plan.

• Requires Speaker of House and President of Senate to deposit official census maps with Secretary of State and directs State Board of Elections to prepare metes and bounds descriptions of the new districts.
