IL SB2939

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-502.15 to prohibit drivers from using cannabis in the passenger area of any motor vehicle on a highway.

Requires that any cannabis possessed by a driver or passenger in a motor vehicle be stored in a secured, sealed or resealable, odor-proof, child-resistant container that is inaccessible.

Establishes that violations of cannabis use or possession restrictions in vehicles constitute a Class A misdemeanor.

Provides that the odor of burnt or raw cannabis in a motor vehicle alone shall not constitute probable cause for law enforcement to search a vehicle.
