Renumbers and clarifies surgical smoke plume evacuation requirements in the University of Illinois Hospital Act, Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act, and Hospital Licensing Act.

Defines "surgical smoke plume" as by-products from energy-based devices (electrosurgery, lasers) containing hazardous materials including bioaerosols, smoke, gases, tissue fragments, and viruses.

Requires hospitals, ambulatory surgical treatment centers, and the University of Illinois Hospital to adopt policies ensuring use of dedicated surgical smoke plume evacuation systems for all procedures generating surgical smoke.

Mandates covered facilities report to the Department of Public Health within 90 days after January 1, 2022 confirming adoption of required evacuation policies.

Corrects technical language to specify evacuation systems capture and filter smoke before it can diffuse and pose risk to operating room occupants.
