SB3139 Summary

• Amends the Probation and Probation Officers Act to establish a phased increase in state salary reimbursement for probation officers currently reimbursed at $1,000 per month.

• Beginning July 1, 2023, 20% of the total statewide number of such positions (as of July 1, 2021) shall receive 100% salary reimbursement instead of the flat $1,000 monthly rate.

• Each subsequent July 1, an additional 20% of the July 1, 2021 statewide number shall be converted to 100% reimbursement until no positions remain at the $1,000 per month rate.

• Allows the Division of Probation Services to reimburse more than 20% of probation officers at 100% salary in any given year at its discretion.
