IL SB3163

Amends the Vital Records Act to allow the Department to issue certified copies of birth certificates with the certifying health care professional's identity redacted upon written request.

Redaction requests may be made by the person named on the certificate (if of legal age), their parent or legal guardian, or their representative (if not of legal age).

Only the identity of the certifying health care professional may be redacted; no other names or information on the certificate can be removed.

Issuance of a redacted certified copy does not create a new or amended birth certificate and remains subject to all other requirements of the Vital Records Act.

Authorizes the Department to adopt rules necessary to implement the redaction procedures.
