IL SB3188

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to cap sentence credit for prisoners serving sentences for second degree murder committed on or after the effective date at no more than 4.5 days per month of imprisonment.

Adds second degree murder to the list of offenses in Section 3-6-3 that restricts sentence credits, placing it in the same category as other serious crimes like attempt to commit terrorism and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

The 4.5-day monthly cap applies to sentence credits earned on or after the bill's effective date and applies to all prisoners convicted of second degree murder after that date, regardless of when the crime was committed.
