IL SB3197

Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 to modify eligibility for group health insurance benefits for survivors of deceased employees who receive occupational death benefits or workers' compensation death benefits.

Expands survivor eligibility to include those entitled to occupational death benefits or Illinois Workers' Compensation Act death benefits, with 100% State contribution rate coverage for unmarried children until age 18 (or 22 if full-time student) and for adult survivors until Medicare eligibility.

Applies new survivor benefits retroactively to those who first became survivors prior to January 1, 2022, upon their request on or after the effective date of this act.

Makes technical corrections to statutory language, changing "paragraphs" to "paragraph" and "6 month" to "6-month" in multiple sections referencing the Illinois Pension Code.
