Amends Section 17-149 of the Illinois Pension Code regarding cancellation of pensions for re-employed teachers.

Adds new subsection (c-10) allowing service retirement pensions to remain uncancelled until June 30, 2024 if a retired teacher is re-employed in a subject shortage area and the employer meets specific recruitment requirements.

Requires employers to offer vacant positions in shortage areas first to recently dismissed teachers before hiring retired pensioners, and to conduct at least 90 days of documented recruitment through college placement offices, the Illinois Education Job Bank, and the employer's website.

Exempts employers from the 90-day recruitment requirement for 90 school days if a hired teacher becomes unable to work due to documented illness, injury, or disability.

Requires employers to submit compliance documentation to the regional superintendent, who certifies it to the pension fund.
