Hydrogen Economy Act (SB3613)

• Establishes a 24-member Hydrogen Economy Task Force with representatives from state government, legislature, labor organizations, national laboratories, universities, utilities, renewable energy companies, and environmental justice communities.

• Task Force shall meet at least quarterly and elect a Chair from among its members, with the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity providing administrative support.

• Task Force duties include creating a plan for a state Hydrogen Hub, identifying hydrogen integration opportunities across transportation, energy, industrial, and agricultural sectors, and identifying barriers to hydrogen development.

• Task Force shall recommend government policies to deploy hydrogen in the state economy and must submit annual reports to the Governor and General Assembly by December 1 each year.

• Act takes effect upon becoming law and is repealed on June 1, 2023.
