IL SB3914

Expands the definition of sick leave to include "mental or behavioral health complications" for all eligible teachers and employees in Illinois school districts.

Allows school boards to require certification from a licensed mental health professional providing ongoing care or treatment after an absence of 3 days for mental or behavioral health reasons.

Creates new Section 34-18.78 establishing that sick leave must be interpreted to include mental or behavioral health complications in addition to any existing collective bargaining agreements or district policies.

Applies to full-time teachers and employees eligible for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund in all school districts except those in municipalities with populations of 500,000 or more.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
