State Board of Education shall develop a model program of study beginning with the 2025-2026 school year for direct support professional training, continuing for at least 2 years.

Program must incorporate training and experience necessary to serve as a direct support professional for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

State Board shall submit recommendations by July 1, 2023, developed in consultation with community-based providers serving children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and education practitioners including teachers, administrators, special education directors, and regional superintendents.

Recommendations shall be submitted to the Department of Human Services outlining training requirements needed to complete the model program of study.
