IL SB4054

Increases the minimum widow's annuity for Chicago firefighters from 125% to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, effective January 1, 2023.

Applies the new minimum annuity amount to all persons receiving widow's annuities on or after January 1, 2023, regardless of whether the deceased fireman was in service before or after the effective date.

Defines "Federal Poverty Level" as the poverty guidelines for a single-person household in Illinois, as updated periodically by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the Federal Register.

Amends the State Mandates Act to clarify that implementation of this increase requires no state reimbursement.

Becomes effective immediately upon enactment.
