IL SB4244

Removes the residency requirement for township treasurers in Class II county school units, allowing non-residents to serve as treasurers.

Requires treasurers appointed for their first term in Class II county school units after August 14, 1989 to be either a certified public accountant or certified chief school business official, with prior township treasurer experience counting as equivalent certification.

Allows a person appointed as school treasurer under subsection (c) to concurrently serve as treasurer of the regional board of school trustees if selected by that board.

Requires transfer of all school funds, accounts, and documents from township treasurers to newly appointed school treasurers when school districts withdraw from township jurisdiction or when township offices are abolished.

Makes school treasurers receiving emergency State financial assistance subject to Article 1B provisions.
