Declares that physical education is an essential and integral part of educating the whole child and that all Illinois students should have access to equitable, high-quality, standards-based physical education programming supported by adequate resources and funding.

Urges all physical education programs to comply with and be accountable to the Illinois School Code, citing concerns about lack of oversight and inconsistent waiver processes.

Recognizes that physical education provides documented benefits including improved academic performance, mental and social-emotional health, and development of social-emotional learning competencies.

Addresses racial and socioeconomic disparities in physical education access, noting that Black and Latinx students and lower-income students are less likely to have access to certified physical education teachers and organized physical activity.

Directs copies of the resolution to be sent to the State Superintendent of Education, Illinois school boards, administrators, principals, teacher unions, and health and physical education associations.
